New publication: Mobile Banking - Financial Services for the Unbanked?

Information and Communication Technology for Development (ICT4D) is about supporting poor and marginalized communities to make use of ICTs to improve the quality of their lives. Wisely used, ICT is an important tool for socioeconomic development and ultimately poverty reduction; it strengthens democracy and transparency, empowers people to make their own decisions and increases income by giving unprivileged people access to essential market information and new opportunities.

"Mobile ATM" is the joint project between the Department of Computer and System Science (DSV) of the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) and School of Computing, University of Colombo (Sri Lanka), supported by SPIDER in 2008 and 2009.
