Funding partners

Spider relies on funding from different sources. Our core funding is currently financed by Sida (90%) and Stockholm University (10%). Our annual turnover is MSEK 15-20, and we use about half of this amount (MSEK 6-12) to support partner organizations. We channel financial support to partner organizations in developing countries (project and network support) as well as our partner universities in Sweden (research and travel grants). Most of the activities we support are co-funded by our partners.

Spider is now in a phase of growth and actively looking for complementary core funding, as well as project and research funding. We also try to assist our project partners to attract additional funding. If you are interested in supporting us or any of our partner organizations, please get in touch with us.

Audits and financial management
Spider is primarily financed through public funds. We are grateful for this confidence and manage these resources with great prudence. In addition to operating in a cost effective manner, we have very stringent routines for financial control. We adhere to strict audit rules of international standard, and so do all our partners. While monitoring our activities, we remain alert to irregularities and take serious action at any sign of corruption or financial mismanagement.
